Privacy Policy

ResumeChiefz ("we," "our," or "us") helps you write and tailor resumes. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: your name and email address, or the profile Google shares with us if you sign in with Google.
• Resume content: the experience, education and skills you enter, paste or upload, the job descriptions you paste, and the resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn text and interview prep we generate for you.
• Uploaded files: when you upload a PDF or Word resume, we convert it to text and delete the file immediately; only the text is used.
• Application tracker: the companies, roles, statuses and notes you track.
• Career Vault (Pro): photos or files of licences, certifications and degrees you choose to store. These are kept in private storage that only your account can access.
• Feedback: messages you send through the feedback button.
• Payment information: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record that a payment happened (amount, date, and Stripe's customer reference).
• Usage and technical data: pages visited, buttons clicked, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and error reports. See section 5 for session recordings.

The free Resume Checker runs in your browser. Text you paste into it is not sent to us; a file you upload there is converted to text and discarded as described above.

2. How We Use It

• To generate, save and show you your resumes and related content
• To find job listings that match the target role in your most recent resume
• To run your account, process your purchase, and provide support
• To send emails (see section 4)
• To prevent abuse, for example rate-limiting using a one-way hash of your IP address
• To find and fix bugs and understand which features help people

3. Who We Share It With

We share data only with the service providers below, only for the purpose listed, and never sell it:

• Supabase — database, file storage and sign-in
• Vercel — website hosting
• Anthropic (Claude) — generates your resume content from what you provide. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.
• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — delivers our emails
• JSearch (via RapidAPI) — job listings. We send your target job title and location, not your resume.
• Google Analytics and PostHog — product analytics and error reporting (see section 5)

We may also disclose information if required by law.

4. Emails

• Account emails, such as sign-in and email confirmation.
• Reminders about applications in your tracker, such as a draft you never sent or a follow-up that is due.
• A few check-ins if you sign up and do not build a resume, or stop using the product — then they stop.

We send at most one reminder or check-in every 3 days. Turn them off any time in Settings → Email Reminders or with the unsubscribe link in every email.

5. Analytics, Session Recordings and Cookies

We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used. PostHog may record sessions — mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and which screens you visit — so we can see where people get stuck. In these recordings all text on the page and everything you type is masked, so your resume content is not visible, and the Career Vault page is not recorded at all.

We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, to save an unfinished resume draft in your browser for up to 7 days, and for the analytics above. We do not use advertising cookies.

6. How Long We Keep It

We keep your account data until you delete your account. When you do, your profile, resumes, tracker, Career Vault files, feedback and login are permanently deleted. Two exceptions: records that a payment occurred are kept for accounting and tax purposes (they contain no resume content), and deleted data may remain in our encrypted database backups for a short period until those backups expire. Analytics data is kept by Google and PostHog under their retention settings.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Delete your account: Dashboard → Settings → Delete Account. This removes everything described in section 6.
• Access or export: view and download your resumes in your dashboard, or email us for a copy of the data we hold.
• Correct: edit your name in Settings, or email us.
• Stop emails: Settings → Email Reminders, or any unsubscribe link.

For anything else, email support@resumechiefz.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights under local law; we will honour requests made under them.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Each user's records are isolated at the database level so one account cannot read another's, Career Vault files are stored privately, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Children's Privacy

ResumeChiefz is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes, we will update the date above and notify you by email or a notice on the site.
